With the continual rise in fuel prices many household customers are thinking of ways to save money and go green, as such solar thermal is fast becoming a popular option dues it's easy installation.
As from 2016 new build properties will have to have some form of micro generation technology built in with Solar Thermal expected to be a very popular choice, so if you are a new build gas engineer it will be worth adding the solar certificate to your qualifications.
Course Information
Doncaster Gas Training and Assessment Cenre are a CITB Construction Skills registered centre, this means that the qualification you will be working towards is a Construction Skills Building Engineering Services Card and Certificate for Renewables and Energy Efficiency.
The course consists of 2 full days with both practical and theory training and assessments.
Candidates are required to have plumbing experience in the form of an NVQ Level 2 or NVQ Level 3 in plumbing or heating and ventilation or gas services of which the following qualifications in ACS are required: Core Gas Safety (CCN1) plus CEN1 or CENWAT, the unvented ticket is also a prerequesite.
If you haven't got the unvented ticket then this can be added onto the Solar Thermal Course, this would then increase the course to 3 full days instead of 2.
On completion of a successful assessment a card and certificate of competency will be issued.
The cost of the course includes a reference manual which is yours to keep and can also be purchased prior to starting the course if required.
Small groups of 4 - 8 candidates will have a reduced cost please contact the centre for further information or click here to book online.
The Solar Thermal course can also be taken by site foremen to help give them insight as to how it works and also to enable them to identify bad and unsafe installations, however they WILL NOT receive a certificate of competency it will only be an awareness course.
